everything about THE KING KONG THEORY
LET'S TALK ABOUT KING KONG THEORY
As a young person developing in this society, I believe that everyone should read King Kong Theory. It is short yet poignant and particularly well-written. Virginie Despentes offers fascinating feminist and philosophical insights, breaking away from traditional feminist rules and ways of thinking. She writes about hard truths, and I find her perspective to be incredibly valid.
A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT ABOUT KING KONG THEORY
King Kong Theory is a small book written by the French author Virginie Despentes in 2006. It lies somewhere between an autobiographical and a philosophical essay. Upon its release, it received both praise and criticism. The book gained renewed popularity after the #MeToo movement and has since become a classic, sometimes even taught in schools.
WHAT TO READ IF YOU LIKED KING KONG THEORY
If you enjoyed reading King Kong Theory and would appreciate more feminist works from around the world, I recommend Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur. She also develops her own way of expressing feminism through poems and drawings.
FAVOURITE QUOTE FROM THE KING KONG THEORY
"Toute l'élégance et la cohérence masculine, résumées en une attitude : Donne moi ce que je veux, je t'en supplie, que je puisse ensuite te cracher à la gueule."(translation:"All masculine elegance and coherence, summed up in one attitude: Give me what I want, I beg you, so that I can then spit in your face.")
